TEXTI will be visiting South West Scotland in early March and I have been told to try Broom Fishery while in that area. It is situated very close to Annan and I am told it is very good with 5 very well stocked Trout lakes. Has anyone been in that area do you know much about it and is it worth a visit. I would appreciate some replies before I leave 2nd week in March

Hi Troutman, I fished broom fisheries about 2 years ago i was quite impressed although then there were only 4 lochs they were in the process of making a fifth. As i recall I had a good days fishing with some excellent quality Rainbows, there are also Browns and Blue trout, though I never saw any that day. ;D

I fished the Broom fishery last week visited it on Wednesday, excellent fishing, it was that good I had to return on Friday for another dabble before I came home. Anyone in that area take it from me it is certainly worth while visiting, there is 5 well stocked trout Loch's and several coarse Loch's for those who prefer coarse fishing.

I visited Broom Fishery in September and they have now reduced the number of trout lochs to 4. However, whilst I personally did not fish that day there were good catches of rainbow's. I was really sorry I did not have any tackle with me because they had been releasing a large amount of Salmon into one of the loch's and it was absolutely alive with them. A result of this I think was attributing to the catches of really good rainbows. There were also good catches of Salmon on that day the best I saw was a fish of 11-12lb and boy what a scrap. Certainly somwhere I will visit again but next time with tackle.
